Twilight

This book was written by Stephenie Meyer

Synopsis

I read Twilight about half a year ago to see what all the buzz was about, and frankly I didn’t think it was all that great. Throughout the whole entire book I was saying to myself  “Will the kiss already?” I just wish that the book had a better storyline in it.

What I liked

The only thing I liked about this book is that it has okay vocabulary.

My Rating

If I were to rate this book out of 10 I would rate it a 7. (okay read)

The Fire Eternal

Synpsis

This book is strongly about David Rain’s girlfreind, Zanna Martingdale. This book takes place five years after the last book. Zanna has a child who is named Alexa. This book is also about the bear named Ignavar. Ignavar had met two other bears named Averel and Kailar. Kailar is the Fighting bear, who fights the animals that challenge them. Averel is the telling bear who takes stories out of other people’s memories and uses them to help them in their journey to find the exact point that the tear of Gawain, the last ever dragon, fell into the ocean which apparently is why the polar ice cap formed.

What I liked.

I liked this book because it was a very good read, no flaws in the story, no bad uses of vocab. If I could rate this book out of 10, I would rate it a perfect 10.

IceFire

This book was written by Chris d’Lacey (book #2)

Synopsis

I read Icefire about 1 week ago. This is one of the better novels in the Fire Within books. The book takes place in the life of David Rain. If you haven’t read The Fire Within you shouldn’t read this review. This book is about David, who goes to the Arctic to study  global warming. When he gets to the Arctic, he starts a book and he names it White Fire. It is about two bears in the Arctic who get into quite a bit of trouble. Just to warn you this book is pretty much about global warming. First of all, David writes the book about a bear named Ignavar. He is a descendant of the ancient nanukipick (means “great bear”) Ragnar. He gets into trouble with the other descendant of another polar bear, Thoran. Back at home Liz, Lucy, and Zanna (David’s Girlfriend) have a kind of “kid”. Zanna quickened a dragon egg.  He technically was supposed to be a boy, but he was bewitched by the evil witch Gwillana to be a dragon with no flame.

What I liked.

Like I said, This was one of the best books in the Fire Within series. It had just as good of grammar and vocab. as the other books. It was so good, I couldn’t put it down.

My Rating.

If I could rate this book out of 10 stars, I would give it a 9.99. (It wouldn’t be fair if I gave it a 10.)

Fire Star

Posted in Books with tags , , on 03/17/2009 by japhro

This book is written by Chris D’Lacey (book 3)

Synopsis

I read Fire Star about two weeks ago. It was a very interesting read. If you haven’t read The Fire Within or IceFire, you shouldn’t read this book. It is about our hero David Rain that does many things.  David is still in the Pennykettle household. Now that he has his trusty dragon named Gadzooks to help him he is able to do many things. One of the things is find a giant snowball in the freezer and learn that it was actually a tear of the last living dragon named Gawain. David is currently working on a book, about pair of squirrels named Snigger and Conker who are best friends, for the now 11 year old Lucy. What is that tear for? How will Gadzooks help David? All of these questions and more will be answered in The Fire Star.

What I liked.

This book was one of the worst of The Fire Within books in my opinion, but it had at least had some exiting information in it. It had as awesome vocabulary in it just like the book before it. But I still found the book a little boring.

My rating.

If I could rate this book out of 10,  I would make it have about a 7/10. (Just okay of a read.)

This book is written by Chris D’Lacey.

Synopsis

I read The Fire Within about a month ago. It was a very interesting read. The book is about a 21 year old college student, David Rain, looking for a house. David finds a house in the little town of Scrubbly, Massachusetts. The people who own the house are Elizabeth Pennykettle and her daughter Lucy. At first it was normal but after time David feels that Liz and Lucy are very weird people with Liz making dragons and talking to them as if they are real. Then Liz makes David a dragon named Gadzooks who seems to use his pad and paper to help David in many ways.

What I liked

What I liked about this book is that it is a fast paced story that I couldn’t put down.  The author used nice language and very superb vocabulary.  I have read this book many times because it is a very good book. If you have not read this book, I urge you to read it.

Rating

If I could rate this book out of ten, I would give it a 9.5 (very, very, very good read).
